Lache

A Lache is a horizontal campus dyno. The climber begins the move hanging from their hands, swings their body to generate momentum, and then releases to fly horizontally in the air to the catch hold(s).

Setup

The start hold(s) for a Lache should be high enough off the ground to allow the climber to swing as necessary. It should also be comfortable to swing on, making rounded jugs great for the move. The catch hold ideally faces the climber, at the same or even lower vertical height. Consider using volumes to build out the start/catch holds from the wall, allowing the climber plenty of margin for swinging and catching. Lastly, the catch hold should be far enough away from the start hold to suggest the move, as swinging into a foot-first sequence is possible if the holds are too close.

Tweaks

Laches can vary in difficulty depending on the distance of travel through the air, the quality of the start/catch holds, and the orientation of those holds. Consider first changing the distance and orientations for a harder Lache, as worse holds can quickly become quite uncomfortable or even painful to swing on. With that said, a sloper can make a comfortable catch hold that isn’t as simple as catching a jug.

Combinations

Laches can easily be combined into other coordination moves instead of catching onto another hold. The Brazilian, for example, is a Lache into Skate move (or otherwise landing feet onto something rather than catching a jug mid-air). A couple ideas for move combinations following the swing; Lache into: Skate, Redirect, Tobinator, Palm-Press.
